My Luminaries ‘Order From The Chaos’ Out Soon
Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition winners My Luminaries release their debut album ‘Order From The Chaos’ on Monday 7th June, through their DIY label Cottage Industries.

The journey that has led East London alt-rock band My Luminaries to this release is one more complex than most. It’s been a journey of false starts, of adventure and misadventure and one that has delivered a humble but explosive band that are determined to be heard.
Reading born songwriter James Ewers met Manchester bred drummer Sam Stopford at Kingston University in 2004. Together with twins Saul and Dylan Perryman they formed their band. Ill-fated management and record deals followed, with the band tied to a development deal with V2 records that proved fruitless for label and band. The label wanted copycat indie hits and the band wanted to write a timeless album they could be truly proud of.
Surviving largely unscathed with the music they loved intact, and having gained priceless experience, a self released live album and two singles were quick to follow; Jumping the Great White and The Outsider Steps Inside on Grönland Records. The band spent 2008 writing what could very well have been their second or third album, along with new addition Simon Jones. In January 2009 the band went into Eastcote Studios to self-produce and record their debut long player. Bloody minded and heads ringing with tunes, nothing seemed too ambitious. String quartets were recorded. Horn sections were drafted in. The battleground was set.
The album was mixed by the revered and renowned Paul Stacey, who shared the band’s ethos that the record should be made for the record’s sake, and not for the sake of the radio or iPod. The result is Order From The Chaos. It would only be right that it should be mastered in New York by the legendary Greg Calbi (Springsteen, Dylan etc). New champions of the band were soon drawn by the scent of something special. Radio 1’s Edith Bowman voted for the band to play at T in the Park Festival in Scotland.
My Luminaries – Parasol:
Shortly after this, the reality of the five-year slog took its toll on the band and in the weeks that followed, the twins and Simon were replaced by London based lifelong musicians Mark Ferguson, Mike Murray and Leila MacFie. The restored and revived line up began writing and recording immediately. And as if this new sense of optimism and focus could be sensed elsewhere, Order From The Chaos soon spread across the Internet the world over, hailed in countless online blogs and proclaimed by many to be “the first great album of the decade”. Meanwhile the band were chosen from over 1600 entrants as the overall winners of the Q Magazine Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition, winning at least one slot at this year’s festival. Judges included Emily Eavis, BBC’s Huw Stevens and Q Editor Paul Rees.
The first single taken from the album was the fan-favorite Parasol, released on the band’s own DIY label Cottage Industries on March 22nd 2010. At time of press the single had featured on both Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 music and Eddy Temple Morris’ XFM shows, with many more expected.
With a UK tour leading to the band’s performance at Glastonbury and a new EP release planned for the autumn, My Luminaries are ready for a truly great year.
Order From The Chaos is available on CD and download from all good record stores on Monday 7th June 2010. My Luminaries play the Queens Head Stage at Glastonbury Festival on 24th June 2010.

“Excuse my intentions, they are nothing new. A Little Scary maybe, but they won’t hurt you…”
Bad Precedent are characterized by high energy performances, driven by powerful riffs and creamy harmonies that have become the staple of their gigs. Created by Frontman/Guitarist Jamie Suffield and borne out of a frustrated obsession with the music that surrounded him, Jamie was soon joined by Lee Jones on Bass. Guitarist Ian Johnson and Drummer Dale Ellis followed suit to complete the line up of this Classic Rock Quartet diversely influenced by bands such as Led Zepplin, Black Stone Cherry, Big Business and Biffy Clyro.
BP have moved from strength to strength following the launch of their EP ‘Hold Out’ in the summer of 2009, which also included ‘Cheap Smoke N Lies’ and ‘Come Back Home’. Bad Precedent have toured many of the top venues in the North West such as O2 Academy Liverpool, Manchester Academy 3, The Cavern, Moho Live, Barfly Liverpool. After taking some time to themselves at the back end of 2009 to start work on an Album, BP are planning a 2010 summer tour. ‘Lucidity’, the first track off the Album will be released for general sale to coincide with these summer dates. Talks are also currently ongoing with venues and promoters for a US tour.
The bands intentions have been well received in Hollywood with a review in SugarBuzz magazine. Bad Precedent were described here as ‘…pure Rock and Roll, just as god would have planned it…’ There have also been reviews in Soundcheck magazine, the Burnley Express and the Liverpool Echo, where the band were described as being like an early ‘…Metallica meets Black Sabbeth…’
Striving to fill the void left by the mediocrity of today’s music, Bad Precedent aim to fill you with more hooky guitar riffs and powerful vocal harmonies than ever before…be part of something Bad…

Interview with Claire Boswell
Claire Boswell is a singer songwriter from Worcester, England. Here’s a taster of her with the toe-tapping ‘Under The Bridge’:
So Claire, could you introduce yourself and your music to our readers?
I’m a singer, songwriter, guitarist from Worcester. I play a mixture of folk rock, country, jazz and blues. I don’t like to pigeon hole myself as I like a lot of different styles of music and a lot of different factors influence what I play and write, but musically it’s somewhere along the lines of Joni Mitchell, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt.
Are you gigging at the moment?
Yes, all the dates are listed and regularly updated on my myspace page at www.myspace.com/claireboswell
How did it feel to get in to the top 10 unsigned tunes of 2009 with your single Under The Bridge?
Obviously I’m pleased. It feels good to be getting more recognition as a song writer as well as a singer and performer. More people are being turned on to my music now through gigs, the internet like myspace and youtube and various radio performances that I’ve done. It’s coming on in leaps and bounds, but it’s all good!
Your music is very emotional. How do you go about writing it?
It mostly comes through personal experiences. I’ll be playing around with some chords, usually in some weird tuning. I love that because it gives more harmonic resonance on an acoustic which helps create the mood. Sometimes I’ll wake up at 3 or 4am itching, not literally. I’ll pick up my guitar and write three songs straight off. On the other hand I’ll have some lyrics stuck in my head for weeks and I can’t find the right chords, then it hits me. It’s very serendipitous.
What’s your dream gig?
I think it would have to be the Grand Old Opry. I’ve been fascinated by it since I was a nipper. Either there or somewhere like the Royal Albert Hall.
What’s your favourite song that you’ve written?
I don’t really have one. They all mark certain times in my life, some good, some bad. I like the tuning in Melt Away and the chord changes, Reason To Believe is a bit more jazzy, while Under The Bridge has that Americana vibe going. Shadow’s delicate but it’s a lot deeper than my other songs and the meaning is less obvious.
Could you tell us something your fans may not know about you?
I have a two year old Yorkshire Terrier called Dhara.
What lays ahead in the future for Claire Boswell?
Well, I’m currently recording my first record, the EP should be out soon and I’m really looking forward to that. I’ve been playing live for over four years now and people always ask if I have any records. I did a demo when I was 16 but the simple reason I haven’t recorded an album yet is because I wanted to build up more of a fan base, gain more experience as a performer and enjoy the rest of my teenage years. A lot of young kids starting out can get so caught up with the pressures of the whole ‘industry machine’ before they really understand it. It’s a big commitment if you’re serious about making a living doing it and it’s too much responsibility for say a 16 year old. I didn’t want that. I’m 21 now, and I feel ready for whatever life throws at me.
Anything else that you’d like to add?
I have live videos of the songs I mentioned on my Youtube channel, so please look me up, have a listen and subscribe if you like what you hear!
