Sigur Ros – ()
What can I say about Sigur Ros?
If philosophy could be morphed in to the form of music, this would be it.
They are the pinnacle of relaxing, thought provoking and atmospheric music. They sing in a language consisting of Icelandic, English and some made up words, leaving the lyrics open to interpretation. This album actually comes with an empty section for lyrics, allowing you to write down either what you think the lyrics are, or what you portray them to be.
Sigur Ros – () – The one album that my life would probably feel less complete without. The tracks are that good. This, in my opinion, is also the best Sigur Ros album available. Latter albums feature more guitars and less strings, but I think for the atmospheric and thought provoking feel, the tracks on () are just right.
A few tracks in particular stand out, however as they are all untitled, it would be hard to list them. There is one song where the piano riff is so soothing and melancholic throughout. Almost creating a sense of a dream-like world.
I read a quote online one time which summed up this band perfectly. A man, out of his head on ‘shrooms put this album on and said “it was like looking in to the face of God”. I personally can only imagine, but I get lost sometimes in the beauty of the music that extends from this album.
If you haven’t heard of Sigur Ros, this is the perfect album to start with
My rating: 10/10

you could try NME’s review:

or Wikipedia have a lot of useful information about them. I’d say that’s a good place to start.
